If there is abdominal pain, back pain, frequent or painful urination, blood in urine, or other urinary problems. May be a part of a routine medical exam to screen for certain health conditions.

Fresh, cleanly voided urine collected in a clean container; optimum: 50 ml, minimum: 2ml

Rejection Criteria:
1. The request form does not contain the following information:
-Patient’s name and ID number (accession number, at least identification information)
-Name of physician
-Time and date collected
-Test requisition form
2. Specimen is unlabeled.
3. Old, unpreserved urine sample: Over 24 hours after collection.
4. Unrefrigerated routine UA sample: Over 2 hours after collection.
5. Improperly sealed or leaking containers.
6. Specimens submitted in unapproved containers or containers contaminated on the outside.
